Sicilian Feasts

In a new offering for Sweetbridge Larder we introduce the Sicilian Feast, a long-table dinner held monthly.

After a wonderful "Feast" held in October where over 60 diners enjoyed a family evening in true Sicilian style, we have decided to continue to share this authentic experience.

Our first event for 2014 will be the evening of 15 February 2014.

This model of dining replaces our twice weekly "Dinners".

To book call on 4772 1527.

Our New Addition … Cooking Classes

After many requests we have decided to share our secretes and pass on our knowledge and passion. We are running small classes of 6 people to provide an intimate hands on cooking experience.

Nancy now combines her two passions, cooking and teaching. See our offer in the side menu.

Our story …

For many years it worried Nancy that Townsville was missing out on the great food she grew up with, so she did something about it. She set up a bakery called Three Loaves Bakehouse. It set the benchmark for artisan bread in the city of Townsville and gave hope to many who remembered what good food tasted like. But alas the job was not done for Nancy who just wanted to share her history and passion for food.  The secrets she learned from her parents and extended family... the food experiences they remembered from days past. Two stores and two market stalls later choices were required, so Nancy sold the bakery so that she could focus on the next stage of the food journey and thus Sweetbridge Larder was born.

So what is Sweetbridge Larder?

Well we are not a franchise, not smoke and mirrors or neon lights. We have  values and honour and respect for our food, customers, our staff, our community. We are more than a café, a deli, a patisserie... We are a food lovers journey in progress.

We love ... real scones freshly made each day. Pastry made with butter. All Italian cooking and especially slow cooked pasta sauce. We love fresh flowers, artichokes, goats cheese, brown paper and string, the smell of freshly brewed coffee. Old paintings, new drawings. Kids drawings. Music played loud and sometimes softly, and sometimes not at all. Flowing dresses, no dresses. Girls night movies with Hugh Grant. Books on cooking, baking, and on the shelf and floor and all around us. Chooks. We love our chooks.  Cubby houses. SAO biscuits with fresh tomato and cheese. Bikes with baskets. Old photos. Wooden boxes. Roses in our garden. Fresh herbs. Swimming. Sleeping and eating. Family. This is Sweetbridge Larder.

We are an experience, more than a shop, more than a café.  We do food, when and where you want it.... at our shop (our Larder), at your home, at your work, for picnics, etc ... Just ask us about your catering requirements.

We bake exceptional cakes ... birthday, weddings, and we just did one to celebrate a live fully lived... and for no occasion at all.

We have a breakfast fetish, so we offer a range of options: hot, cold, dry, wet, big,  light and buttery, gluten free, vegetarian, just ask.

Lunch? Of course. The cabinet is loaded with tarts, terrines, salads, and sandwiches.. and yes we do pies.

We sell... muesli, jam, cookies, salted caramel in a bottle, seasoned nuts like grandma used to make, Italian biscuits... did we mention Nancy's heritage?  Yes, you guessed it - pure Sicilian, born and baked in an Australian sun in the cane fields of the North, schooled in the kitchen of life.

We love our Coffee. Genovese coffee is as good as you are going to get... see the Italian theme? Rich, smooth and made with passion.

Man Food - Pies, sausage rolls and sweet things you don't tell your mates you eat;

Nice  Food -  tarts, tartines, terrines, pies and salads and a gourmet selection to die for;

Pastries and cakes - the cake cabinet is constantly groaning under the load;

Night food to take home - Pasta sauces, lasagne, roasts, gourmet pies and whatever the cook fancies.

We will soon begin...

Classes - it started with Nancy’s sourdough classes at the bakery but will expand to include cakes, pastries, the basics and more;

Evening Cafe - The evening dinners for those who are looking for a new, authentic, social dining experience;

Deli - our Larder will be stocked with the ingredients we use every day... it may be vine-ripened tomatoes, bundles of beans, artichokes, free-range eggs, heirloom pork, Italian smallgoods, or French cheeses ... It will always be fresh and healthy but you’ll need to beat our chefs to use it.

And yes we will continue to sell sourdough breads ...

So we say to you .... Welcome to Sweetbridge Larder.
